24: “不求人” an Eason song I have a love-hate relationship with

I adore most of this song, I adore the melancholy lyrics, the piano, the backup, the part with Eason-singing-a-duet-with-his-damnself.

BUT BAGPIPES. WHY. WHAT.

Here’s how the song goes:

thoughtful, piano, then…SKIRRRRRRRRRRLSKIRRRRRRRRLYIRRRL (WAT. WHAT WAS THAT.) Quick fade to Eason (whew)

Singing, piano, soft but steady beat, lyrics, soft violins

Chorus (oh I LOVE the chorus)

Almost-apologetic SKIRRRRRRRRRRL (uh WTF guys).

Singing, piano, soft but steady beat, lyrics, soft violins

Chorus (still LOVE the chorus)

FUCKYOUHEREIAMBAGPIPESTOCHOKEEVERYHORSETHATEVERLIVEDSKIRRRRRRRRRRLSKIRRRRRRRRLYIRRRRRRRRRRLYRRRRRRRRRLSKIRRRRRRRRRRLSKIRRRRRRRRLYIRRRRRRRRRRLYRRRRRRRRRLSKIRRRRRRRRRRSKIRRRRRRRRLYIRRRRRRRRRRLYRRRRRRRRRLSKIRRRRRRRRRRLLLSKIRRRRRRRRLYIRRRRRRRRRRLYRRRRRRRRRL—MAKEITSTOPOMG—SKIRRRRRRRRRRLYSKIRRRRRRRRLYIRRRRRRRRRRLYRRRRRRRRRL Quick fade to Eason

Still…listening to this song. I think. I can recover from the hearing loss…SKIRRRRRRRRRRL (OH COME ON).

another non-bagpipe part of the song

Whew, yeah, still…hmm…SKIRRRRRRRRRRL (MOTHER OF GOD).

My love for 75% of this song is still stronger than the 25% of stupid-shrill BAGPIPEASSAULTINGMEINTHEEAR.

The levels are alllll off in the song if the bagpipes are supposed to add to it. It’s painful to listen to in parts, LITERALLY-literally painful. I might In My Copious Spare Time go level-out my iTunes version, but I really wish the responsible parties, the producers, would have done it, because AUGH.

It’s still a horribly rude awakening when I’m not paying attention. Or in the car. Christ. Why don’t I hate this song.
