20: “Welcome To The Future” with Sa Dingding, an Eason song I would send to space :D

I pestered @jemimah_knight to help me think of prompts for this set of posts, and she came up with…a song I would send into space. Rather than punt, I wanted to go with it. 😀

I don’t particularly like this song, but it brings me back to the Bond-ish, “Star Trek, the Original Series”-type music, which made me think of the Voyager from the first Star Trek movie, and the golden record attached to that craft…and music that’s representative of mankind and the musical experience.

The woman who sings with him in this song is Sa Dingding;

“Sa Dingding (薩頂頂) is a Chinese folk singer and songwriter. She is of mixed Han and Mongol ancestry, and sings in languages including Mandarin, Sanskrit, Tibetan, as well an imaginary self-created language to evoke the emotions in her songs…”

There is so much going on in this song, and her airy, ethereal delivery combined with Eason’s tenor, the combination of the culturally unique and common musical devices…I think the song could hold its own on an interstellar journey to represent human musical experiences.
